Hi. My name’s Sam.

Several years ago, my wife Annie and I gave up our big city lives and moved to a farm near Walla Walla, Washington. We call it Detour Farm.

While both of us felt the call to the country, neither of us had any idea what we were getting into. Fortunately, things are a bit clearer now. Annie runs the farm. She’s the farm boss. She’s all about animals, gardening, wildlife, and getting dirty.

Turns out I’m not much of a farmer. I love being at the farm. I’m supportive of Annie’s doings there. But I’m better at writing, storytelling and cooking. I’m particularly good at sitting on the porch, watching the occasional cloud bump into the mountains in the distance.
